Terry Bradshaw

Four starts. Four rings. Two MVPs.

Terry Bradshaw is Shreveport through and through. He was born in the city on September 2, 1948, learned to throw at Woodlawn High School (now Woodlawn Leadership Academy), and carried that arm to Louisiana Tech and on to four Super Bowl titles in Pittsburgh.

Woodlawn High School

Bradshaw played for the Woodlawn Knights under assistant coach A. L. Williams, one of the passing-game innovators who shaped Shreveport's quarterback tradition, and led Woodlawn to the Class AAA state championship game in 1965. He also set a national high school record in the javelin at Woodlawn.

Woodlawn's run of quarterbacks in the 1960s is remarkable. The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame notes that Bradshaw was the only Woodlawn starting quarterback from 1963 to 1970 who did not make All-State; the others were Trey Prather, Joe Ferguson and Johnny Booty.

Louisiana Tech and the No. 1 pick

Bradshaw stayed in Louisiana for college at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, then became the first overall pick of the 1970 NFL Draft, chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers after they won a coin flip with the Chicago Bears for the top selection.

Four Super Bowls, four wins

Bradshaw started four Super Bowls and won all four: IX and X after the 1974 and 1975 seasons, then XIII and XIV after 1978 and 1979. He was named Super Bowl MVP in XIII, a 35–31 win over Dallas, and XIV, a 31–19 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

He entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, his first year of eligibility, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 1988 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996. Since 1994 he has been an analyst and co-host on Fox NFL Sunday.
