The official family tree

QB Family Tree

Every Shreveport–Bossier quarterback we can verify — by school, by era, and by the mentors, brothers and sons who connect them.

Every branch of Shreveport's quarterback family tree grows from the same trunk: three Super Bowl starters, Terry Bradshaw of Woodlawn, David Woodley of Byrd and Stan Humphries of Southwood. From there it spreads through Joe Ferguson, the Booty family, Brock Berlin, Dak Prescott and dozens more, 26 quarterbacks from 9 schools in all, plus Shreveport-born passers who played their high school ball somewhere else.

Denny Duron and the Evangel dynasty

Captain Shreve quarterback Denny Duron became Evangel Christian Academy's founding head coach in 1977. The school went on to produce national players of the year Josh Booty (1993) and Brock Berlin (1999), plus John David Booty and Blake Shapen. Duron returned as head coach in 2020, and Berlin now coaches Evangel's offense.
